RENFREWSHIRE'S PAST CADDY MISTRESS JUNE LOCKHART HELPS TO RAISE £2,000 FOR THE MAGGIES CENTRE GLASGOW

Baroness Helen Liddell, June Lockhart and Annabel Goldie MSP

On Friday 22nd February, Gleddoch House Hotel proved to be the perfect venue for a wonderful Jean Armour Night, which was thoroughly enjoyed by an audience of 120 ladies, and in the process £2,000 was raised for Maggies.

Renfrewshire's past caddy mistress June Lockhart one of the main organisers was the chairperson for the evening --- and what a wonderful chairperson she was ---- ( See video below)

After a lovely meal, ladies were treated to two superb speeches. Baroness Helen Liddell delivered a Tribute to Jean Armour, and Annabel Goldie MSP proposed a Toast tae the Laddies.

A lovely recitation by D&A's  Helen Faulds (Kate o’ Shanter) was followed by excellent music from Cowglen's singer/songwriter Moira Kerr, who was superbly accompanied by violinist Sarah Perricone.

The £2,000 was raised courtesy of those ladies attending and the generosity of 4 sponsors - Aggreko, Deutsche Bank Private Wealth Management (who also sponsor RLCGA),  Spirito and Top Mark Claims Management.

The 2 prizes for the prize draw were donated by Gleddoch House Hotel and Spirito.

Your webmaster Carol was delighted to attend and support such a worthy cause and was seen to weave her way around all the guests !!

Another little snippit of news was that her son Gordon also raised £2,000 for Ward C at Gartnavel in momory of his sister Sheona by sky diving -- Here is the proof that he did it and he thanks all who  helped him raise the money.

COUNTY SQUAD TRAINING AT THE GLASGOW INDOOR ACADEMY

Donna on the simulator
The County Squad training went well on Thursday Evening (February 14th) at the Glasgow Indoor Golf Academy at Kinning Park.

Donna Jackson was in the simulator room hitting balls to find out the yardages she hits with each club --- She found it a very interesting and worthwhile.

In the short game area a very competitive 2 ball foursomes was played by Gillian McGinlay and Alyson McKechin against Carol Whyte and Sarah McCorkell and after 18 very competitive holes and no gimmies -- (from either side !!) it ended up a very sociable half.

Liz Stewart was on the putting area getting a few pointers from Karyn Burns and was slotting them in.
Roll on the start of the season

THEA AND MORAG ARE INTO THE FINAL OF THE WINTER FOURSOMES

Thea and Morag -- Winners of the Semi Final Tie of the Winter Foursomes
The first of the semi finals of the 2012 - 2013 Winter Foursomes was played today over Erskine Golf Course.
What a good semi final it was --- Janette McCartney (Erskine) and Carol Fell (Ranfurly Castle) - the 2010 - 2011 winners played Thea Morgan and Morag Little from Whitecraigs whom they had beaten in the semi finals of their last encounter 2 years ago.

Carol and Janette (The Losing Semi Finalists)
In a real nip and tuck match on a rather chilly but at least dry day, Janette and Carol had to give 5 shots to the Whitecraigs pairing. They were on the full greens but a slightly shortened course due to winter tees.

The match was all square at the turn with lots of pars and a few bogeys. Janette and Carol were 1up after 11 and then the Whitecraigs pairing had 5 net/gross pars in a row to win on the 16th green.

Morag and Thea played exceedingly well with Thea's putting being exceptionally good.
So it was sweet revenge for Thea and Morag.

They now meet the winners of the other semi final between Christeen Finlayson and Sheila Robson (Whitecraigs) and Jinty Rodger and Lesley Forsyth (Williamwood )

RLCGA SENIOR COACHING

Short Game Practice Area at the Glasgow Indoor Golf Academy
This year the Seniors have decided to try the indoor facilities at Glasgow and call once again on the coaching skills of Karyn Burns who is based there.

With everyone being so busy it is terrific to be able to get some coaching once the girls have all finished work and we go there on a Thursday night. We also intend to arrange some golf with our Junior Girls before the season is in ‘full swing’!!

Our first session was last Thursday and eight players managed along. Unfortunately Captain Maureen forgot to take her camera but it will be there next week to capture the evidence!

Karyn gave us some short game and putting practice – the results were probably what to expect at the start of the season but it certainly focuses the mind on getting the right practice in.

The next session is on 14th February.
