GILLIAN AND AUDREY WIN THROUGH AT GREENOCK.

Margaret, Gillian, Audrey and Anne
Gillian Kyle and Audrey Mackenzie (East Renfrewshire) played against Margaret Austin and Anne Terrey (Greenock) at Greenock GC yesterday.

We were pretty lucky with the weather-drizzly but not very windy. Winter rules applied and the visitors took a few holes to realise they were better to play from the semi rough rather than off a mat!
The holes were tightly contested with Anne and Margaret receiving 12 shots and Audrey and Gillian were only 2 up at the turn. The weather unfortunately deteriorated and when the East Ren pair were Dormie 4, Anne and Margaret surrendered.

Sadly there was no catering due to a function that evening, but we shared and enjoyed tea, coffee and a variety of chocolate bars from the Pro shop! (Needs must!) It was a very enjoyable match with lots of great chat!

Thanks go to Gillian Kyle for the photo and report

MORAG AND ANITA WIN THEIR WINTER FOURSOMES TIE PLAYED IN THE TAIL END OF HURRICANE GONZALO

Anita McMillan and Morag Key (Erskine) were mad enough to play their Winter Foursomes tie against Fiona McGibbon and Morag Easton (Elderslie) at Elderslie yesterday morning!!

"I cannot begin to describe the weather "-- said Morag  Caddy cars blowing over, hats blowing down the fairway and even my winter glove taking off. The joys of winter golf.

Anyway, it was a very close match going to the very last putt on the 18th green where Anita and I won by 1 hole. A most enjoyable day nevertheless although my hair has definitely had a "bad hair day".

Well done to you all for completing the tie and thanks go to Morag for the report

DENISE COWAN RETAINS THE COUNTY ROSEBOWL

Denise and Maureen before tee off
Denise is presented with trophy from Vice Captain Gillian Kyle.
Congratulations go to Denise Cowan (Ranfurly Castle) who is the winner of the  2014 County Rosebowl Final -
The final was played between Denise Cowan (Ranfurly Castle) and Maureen Taggart (Old Ranfurly) on Friday 10th October, having been postponed from Monday 7th due to bad weather. When play started, the rain had not long gone off and we were left with wet ground conditions but sunny skies overhead.
Denise got off to a great start winning the first 5 holes with steady golf.
Maureen was struggling a bit playing off the wet ground and did not really make use of the 10 shots she was receiving. She looked like turning the match around when she halved the 6th and won the 7th, but a birdie from Denise at the 9th stopped the comeback.
More good play saw Maureen win the 11th and 12th but it was a little too late. Denise steadied herself again and retained the Rosebowl on the 14th.
Congratulations!
Our thanks go to East Renfrewshire Golf Club for the courtesy of the course which was in lovely condition- if you ignored the puddles on the first few holes!

Many thanks go to Vice Captain Gillian Kyle for the report and to her and Denise for the photos
